Fail...

Ok people, I need help. What do YOU do when you seem to be a on a run of failed projects? It's been a week now and there has been very very little success and a lot of screw ups. A week doesn't sound like long, but when you're trying to make this your job, a week of no productivity is bad! New products aren't working and even very slight (ie different fabric type) variations on old products aren't working. I'm not sure I can face another failed project and another day down the drain, so, help! Please!

When things aren't working for me, I take a break for a day or two. Go out and do something fun that will clear your head and come back refreshed. Seeing things with a clear, rested mind usually makes a difference. Good luck!

Yep - I'm with Thea. I usually change mediums and make something completely non-work-related (like the felted jumper vest I made on Friday when work wasn't working for me).... or take a day off and catch up with a friend or family...

As much as I hate to do it, and as wrong as it seems, sometimes the only thing is to switch things up a bit, give what's not working (and what you're pushing on) a rest, and give yourself a break.

Like the others have suggested, I find it especially helpful to get outside - if I can't let go of "working all the time"-mode I'll bring my camera and my assignment is to find some new inspiration. It works every time! The hard part is letting go of what's not working and making myself switch gears instead of trying harder.

Good luck! I know how frustrating it is.

Thank you ladies for the words of wisdom. I've taken time off. I've made other things (ok they were still sewn, but they weren't bags!). I've tried and tried and tried. And the only thing that helped was cutting my hair in the middle of the night on the weekend!

Yesterday I spent 4 hours making the flap for a messenger bag. Bias binding and clear PVC are both evil foes, but I won. Hopefully the rest of the bag works out...
